Good Friday

Good Friday is the Christian commemoration of Jesus Christ's crucifixion, occurring on the Friday before Easter. It is one of the most important religious holidays in Christianity, a solemn day of remembrance when believers attend services, fast, and pray, reflecting on Jesus's sacrifice. The 'Good' in Good Friday means 'holy' or 'pious,' not 'good' in the usual sense.

According to the New Testament, Jesus was sentenced to death by Roman governor Pontius Pilate on the eve of Passover and crucified on the cross at Golgotha in Jerusalem. Christians believe that Jesus's death was an atonement for humanity's sins, and that he rose again three days later, which is the event celebrated at Easter. The commemoration of Good Friday began in the early Church.
