Shuanjiang Solar Term

Frost Descent (Shuangjiang) is the 18th solar term among the 24 solar terms and the last solar term of autumn, occurring around October 23-24 when the sun reaches 210 degrees celestial longitude. "Frost Descent" signifies weather growing cold with initial frost appearing, marking the transitional solar term from autumn to winter. The "Collected Explanations of the Seventy-Two Pentads" states: "Ninth month middle, qi becomes solemn and congeals, dew crystallizes into frost." At this time, temperatures plummet, day-night temperature differences are large, and water vapor in the air condenses into white crystals on the ground - frost. Frost Descent doesn't literally mean "frost falling" but rather indicates sudden temperature drops and large diurnal temperature differences. During Frost Descent, all things have matured, autumn will end and winter approaches, presenting a desolate landscape between heaven and earth, yet it is also the critical period for autumn harvest and winter storage. Frost Descent scenery possesses unique charm - maple leaves blaze like fire, chrysanthemums bloom defiantly, persimmons ripen to deep red, composing deep autumn's most beautiful tableau.
