Direction Gods
Direction Gods are four daily-changing deities whose positions in the compass indicate auspicious directions for specific types of activities. They include the God of Wealth (财神), God of Joy (喜神), God of Fortune (福神), and Gate of Life (生门) — each guiding a different aspect of daily life.
Imagine an invisible compass rose hovering over your life, its four needles pointing not to magnetic north but toward four different kinds of blessing: one needle points toward wealth, another toward joy, a third toward general fortune, and a fourth toward vital life energy. Each day, this cosmic compass rotates, and the four needles point in new directions.
This is the Direction Gods system — one of the Chinese almanac's most practically consulted features. While other almanac elements tell you when to act, the Direction Gods tell you where to orient your actions. They add a spatial dimension to the art of auspicious timing, transforming the almanac from a mere calendar into a cosmic GPS for daily life.
